Short bio
Dr. Georgios Goumas graduated from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) (1999). He received a PhD Degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA in January 2004. PhD Thesis Title: "Automatic SPMD Code Generation for Tiled Nested Loops," (pdf in Greek). Supervisor: Nectarios Koziris. His research interests include high-performance computing and architectures, resource-demanding applications, automatic parallelizing compilers, parallel programming models, etc. He has published several research papers in journals and international conferences. Georgios Goumas is a recipient of the IEEE IPDPS 2001 best paper award for the paper ''Minimising Completion Time for Loop Tiling with Computation and Communication Overlapping'' (held at San Francisco, California) and of the Dimitrios N. Chorafas Foundation award (2003) in recognition to his research work in the field of "Parallel and Distributed Computing on Large Scale Systems". He has worked in several European and National R&D programs in the field of High Performance Computing, Networking and Storage for IT systems. He is a member of the IEEE and of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Current position
Visiting lecturer and senior research associate at the Computing Systems Laboratory (CSLAB) in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA.
